This week, a client said to me that he is experiencing much fear in his life right now and felt unsure how to lead his organization into the new year with this hanging over him. He listed the many ways fear has interrupted his momentum. From an outside perspective, you might think this was an awful realization. But for this client and me, it was a revelation. I was proud of his courage and ability to finally name the dark cloud after a few sessions together. Fear is an emotional billboard telling us something is wrong. If you are fearful, ask yourself the following questions:
What would happen if I fail?
What is the opposite of this fear?
What would it look like if I was confident and not fearful?
How can I visualize what I want to be instead of fearing the unknown?
Once this client named it and listed the ways it shows up, he was able to prioritize and imagine himself confidently conquering some of those fears.
Many of us are experiencing different levels of fear right now. Let yourself acknowledge it so you may move forward.

“The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” -Nelson Mandela
